VOCAL TRAINING & PERFORMANCE COACHING

-Healthy Vocal Technique-Performance Coaching (Any Style)-Audition Prep & Studio Coaching-Style Coaching-Beginning to Advanced-23 Years experience with training in LA, NY, SLC, Las Vegas, New Jersey-Students in Disney Productions, iTunes, One Voice Children's Choir, Tabernacle Choir, New York shows, and The Voice

I have been a vocal instructor for over 23 years, helping students of various levels, ages and styles. I love to help with the technical training of their voice, the how, so they can have the range, resonance and power and full use of their voice as they want. I also love coaching on performance, style and artistry, with so many more options available with the full and intentional use of your voice. These all lead to learning the embodiment practice that singing naturally is as it all comes together. All of these things contribute to a confident and expressive singer.

I have also helped many who have come without singing as their main goal, but as a type of physical therapy for vocal issues relating to throat and neck muscle tension, breathing issues and as well as stress therapy, either from years of issues or even acute issues from illness or injury, including those rehab prescriptions given from their ENT or SLP and extending into wider ranges of vocal ability.

I have studied and continue to study all the exciting and incredible aspects of voice science, embodiment connection, artistry and performance to help my students progress, connect to their voice and achieve results as efficiently as possible so they can express themselves through singing in the ways they are hoping to. I love to help educate on the voice so it becomes more accessible at any level, less of a mysterious ability, and more able to expand vocal ability to continuous expansion and progress.

Through my own training, performing, education and years of teaching experience, I have been able to learn how to help students learn in more efficient ways, with less frustration and more “A-ha” moments. This is a goal of mine, since I wish I could have had more experiences from the beginning of my journey of learning how to sing and express myself better. I want to give an experience like I’ve had with great instructors who helped me every single time and made learning to sing enjoyable and progressive every time. At any level there should be progress made every time we meet.

I have taught all kinds of levels of students with various goals. I have helped students in Disney productions, in One Voice Children’s Choir, New York shows, in the Tabernacle Choir, students invited to sing on The Voice, in beauty pageants, as well as leads and casts in local school musicals. I have been a judge for singing competitions. I have taught performing groups in Utah and New Jersey. I was a musical theater camp music director, and director at a performing school in New Jersey where I also taught private voice lessons to students performing locally and in New York. I also teach many students pursuing singing/ songwriting, as well as in local bands, local choirs, those working to rehabilitate their voice. I teach those just wanting to see what more they can do with their voice for fun, or to perform, to develop their tone, style and artistry, or just learn this wonderful human instrument we all have!

I have trained with various high level instructors, including those who have trained artists on Broadway in New York and award winning artists like Justin Timberlake, Lil Nas X, and Martina McBride to name a few. I’ve learned instruction from high level instructors from NY, LA, Las Vegas and Utah since earning my Music Degree at BYU in Utah, where I was able to study with Randy Boothe, head of Young Ambassadors. Since I believe learning never ends, and I find the voice endlessly fascinating in all we continue to learn about it, I continually learn from high level teachers who are on the cutting edge of voice technology and training.

I’ve had my own experiences performing and learning to sing from the age of 6, starting by being in choirs up through college. I have won singing contests, including for an up and coming country artist in high school. I have performed the National Anthem at many college events. I have written and recorded original songs and co-written songs and songs for other songwriters as well as traveling to promote albums. I have sung backup for professional singers. I have done voice over work as well.  I have performed at various professional events over the years and love to continue to do it. As a singer who loves to sing but gets very anxious doing it, I love working with students to help them learn how to overcome their nerves and have the training to trust their voices to be able to express themselves as they’re hoping to.

In other areas of music, I have education and experience as a music specialist for children as young as 6 months to Kindergarten teaching music literacy (teaching basic rhythm, dynamics, reading the grand staff, etc…), vocal play and love of music. I helped update the curriculum for a music literacy program for a company I taught for throughout New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania. I also worked with young students as a music director of children and teen MDT camps in New Jersey. Not all voice teachers are comfortable teaching young children, but I enjoy the energy and excitement and uninhibited way they love to sing. I have had a lot of experience with children over my years of teaching, and I love to help them start a positive, confident musical and singing journey and help them in whatever small or big goals they have.

I love to help make singing an enjoyable, expressive, and progressive experience. Whatever level someone comes to me, from beginner to advanced and professional, I love to be a part of their progress and honing their skills in a continuous and building process together, as well as helping quick “wins” on tough parts so they feel less straining or effortful and more efficient, ringing and expressive as they’re hoping for.
